What to Buy in Ho Chi Minh City: 5 Meaningful Saigon Souvenirs A morning coffee, a street you wandered down or a warm welcome from someone you had just met—Saigon often stays with you through small moments. When it is time to pack, a thoughtful souvenir can help preserve that connection. If you are wondering what to buy in Ho Chi Minh City, consider a Halom Modern Sai Gon wooden model kit, Vietnamese coffee and a phin filter, city-inspired prints, local crafts or Vietnamese chocolate. Here are five ideas to help you choose something that suits the person receiving it. 1. Halom Modern Sai Gon: A Miniature City Scene to Build at Home For someone who enjoys architecture, books or creative hobbies, Halom Modern Sai Gon, known in Vietnamese as Sài Gòn Tân Thời, offers a personal way to remember the city. This DIY wooden book nook recreates a miniature streetscape with LED lighting. Once assembled, it can sit between books or become a decorative piece elsewhere in the home. The kit contains 153 pieces, has an estimated assembly time of 2–3 hours, and is recommended for ages 14 and above. Building it gives the recipient time to revisit memories of the trip while creating a keepsake of their own. It can also be a thoughtful gift for someone leaving Saigon, a friend with a connection to Vietnam or a person who enjoys making things by hand. Halom is the product brand of Shalom Wood, the company that designs and manufactures the models in Vietnam. Vietnamese Coffee and a Phin Filter For a coffee lover, Vietnamese coffee paired with a traditional phin filter provides a gift they can enjoy at home. Choose the beans or ground coffee according to the recipient’s taste and preferred brewing method. Check the roast, packaging date and brewing instructions. Adding a short note about a café you visited makes the gift more personal. If the recipient has never used a phin, include simple instructions to help them get started. 3. Postcards, Art Prints and Tote Bags City-inspired illustrations make thoughtful souvenirs for people who enjoy design and everyday accessories. Choose an image connected to your visit: a building you explored, a street you remember or a scene that captures how the city felt to you. A handwritten postcard adds a personal detail, while a tote bag can become part of the recipient’s daily routine. Ask for protective packaging when purchasing art prints. 4. Ceramics, Lacquerware and Handcrafted Objects A ceramic cup, a lacquerware tray or a small craft piece can suit someone who enjoys decorating their home. Consider the recipient’s space, favourite colours and how they might use the object. Ask about the maker, materials and care instructions so that you can share the story behind your choice. For fragile items, check the protective packaging before travelling. 5. Vietnamese Chocolate Chocolate made with Vietnamese cacao is an option for people who enjoy discovering flavours or sharing gifts with friends and colleagues. A selection of different varieties can turn the gift into a shared tasting experience. Check the ingredients, expiry date and storage guidance, particularly if your journey involves extended time in warm conditions. Trung tâm thương mại Takashimaya Việt Nam  How to Choose the Right Saigon Souvenir Let the recipient’s interests guide your decision: Recipient Gift idea A reader, architecture enthusiast or model builder Halom Modern Sai Gon A coffee enthusiast Vietnamese coffee and a phin Someone who enjoys illustration and accessories A postcard, print or tote bag A home décor lover Ceramics, lacquerware or a decorative miniature Friends or colleagues sharing a gift Chocolate or packaged coffee For travel, check the size of the packaging and how the item will be protected. For a DIY gift, consider whether the recipient enjoys assembling things. A Saigon-Inspired Corporate Gift A gift connected to Ho Chi Minh City can give a business occasion a sense of place. Halom Modern Sai Gon is worth considering for visiting partners, client meetings, conferences or appreciation programmes with a connection to the city. An accompanying card can explain the choice: a thank-you for a visit, a reminder of a shared project or a small introduction to Vietnam for someone overseas. Because assembly is part of the experience, the kit is particularly suited to recipients who enjoy creative projects. Businesses should discuss quantities, required delivery dates and packaging needs with the manufacturer before planning an order. A Product to Consider for Souvenir and Gift Retail For souvenir shops, bookstores and gift retailers, a Saigon-themed model offers several ways to introduce the product: as a travel keepsake, a gift for someone connected to the city, a bookshelf decoration or a creative hobby project. A display built around the idea of “Bring Saigon Home” could pair the model with books, postcards or illustrations of the city. This gives shoppers a clear context for the gift. Corporate gifting businesses can also use its local theme as the starting...

Some stories unfold on the pages of a book. Others take shape one piece at a time. From October 2–4, 2026, Shalom Wood, the Vietnamese company that designs and manufactures DIY wooden model kits under the Halom brand, participated in the ninth edition of the Book and Night Culture Festival at Ho Chi Minh City Book Street. Held under the Vietnamese theme “Dệt gấm thêu hoa,” the festival provided an opportunity for Shalom Wood to introduce its locally designed and manufactured products to the public and present its creative direction to potential gift, souvenir and retail partners. Exploring Culture Through Hands-On Creativity The festival’s theme used weaving as a metaphor for bringing together different materials, stories and traditions to create new cultural expressions. Books, crafts and creative activities offered visitors different ways to explore these connections. For Shalom Wood, DIY wooden models provide a way to tell stories through design and participation. A rooftop, a streetscape or an architectural detail can spark curiosity. As builders connect the components, they spend time examining the design and discovering how each element contributes to the finished scene. This creates a natural connection between Halom and the festival’s cultural focus: making stories and creative ideas accessible through an activity people can experience for themselves. From a Vietnamese Production Workshop to Book Street By participating in the festival, Shalom Wood brought Halom models into a public setting centred on books, culture and community. For a company that develops and manufactures its own products, meeting people beyond the workshop is a valuable part of understanding how those products fit into everyday life. The event offered an opportunity to introduce the models, explain the DIY concept and connect visitors with the company behind the brand. Such settings also create opportunities to learn how people approach gift selection, miniature displays and creative hobbies. Shalom Wood’s participation reflects its intention to remain engaged with the market and take part in cultural activities that relate closely to Halom’s identity. Creative Gifts, Decorative Miniatures and Meaningful Souvenirs A wooden model kit can begin as a gift, become an activity shared with someone special and eventually find a place on a bookshelf. Halom develops products around these connected experiences: Creative gifts for people who enjoy detail and making things by hand. Home décor for desks, bookshelves and personal collections. Souvenirs that evoke places, architecture and cultural stories. Engaging DIY projects for people who enjoy construction activities and the satisfaction of completing a miniature. Each finished model carries both the ideas behind its design and the time invested by its builder. This relationship between product and participation is central to what Shalom Wood brings to cultural events. Meet Shalom Wood, the Company Behind Halom Halom is the product brand. Introducing Shalom Wood and the Halom Brand Shalom Wood is the company behind Halom, a brand of DIY wooden models and book nook kits designed and manufactured in Vietnam. Its production workshop is located in Thanh Hoa. Halom products invite users to build miniature buildings, streetscapes, and imaginative interiors from individual components.
